posted Friday, June 22, 2012 3:21:11 PM All of the above (from the OP). I can appreciate anything that just sounds good but to have longevity and replay value to me, it needs to have lyrics or beats that insight thought, either through the topic they are discussing, the patterns or style or anything else. Some of my favorites are songs that I can hear and understand more and more things that I didn't notice before, almost everytime I hear it again. It doesn't even have to be complicated wordplay if there are layers to the meanings depending on the choice of words that you can hear clearly, but just not get unless you are in a certain mindset. I also appreciate it when a lyricist can "ride a beat" and change style or tone to suit the track better instead of using the same style and tone on anything and everything they do. The voice is basically just another layer or layers to the finished track and it needs to be a part of the "music". Some of my other favorites are progressive tracks that have a lot of changes in them, like classical music, that might have several different moods or styles contained within a single song. A lot of my favorites, I didn't know I would like before I heard them because I just never heard anything like them before but they just click to me when I do hear them.
