Sounds cliche, I know. But People talk shit about some of these dudes being glorified cuz they were killed.
Every rapper on that list was a game changer and contributed something extremely important which was the ability to move the critical mass without conforming to it. HipHop would be so much iller if they were still around...I think Nas is carrying the torch for this era. I really hope he delivers with this next album.

Like i said in the Big L/Big Pun thread, his death fucked with me the most. Even more than Big or Pacs. Probably cause he never maximized his potential whereas both Pac and Big did. Plus i was a bigger fan of L then the other two.

posted Thursday, June 28, 2012 10:32:18 AM the worst thing about those dudes passing was that pac, biggie, and l definitely wouldn't stand for the type of shit that's being released today and would most likely be calling dudes out for the gay shit....but then again it's good that they passed so they couldn't see it or be a part of it.

and why is that? if you're implying that the music of today is anything like what pac was putting out in the early-mid 90's....then you're insane.

This is the line that always stuck with me in a bad way from Big L. I have a feeling he would have been in leather overalls with Cam on that gay ass Fire cover if he was still kicking. I think his shiny suit was ready to be picked up from Puffy's people right around the time he got popped. You never know though.
Pun on the other hand, I don't blame him for that second record. I blame the industry and of course that parasite Joe for forcing out a record with a very sick man's voice on it (all but "n*gga shit" that song is fucking great). Dude was no longer able to really move and shit (640lbs) and the money was still rolling in, bad combination. Pun would have tried his hand at the commercial shit I'm sure cause let's be honest, he was good at it. But he would still bring the fucking terror to features and bodies of his own work.

posted Thursday, June 28, 2012 4:01:04 PM ya I know you asshole, I've been weeping at my desk for the last fucking hour.
Saying I don't like gangsta rap is way off though my man. I fucking love that old shit. Guerillas in tha Mist is in my top 20 of all time. "really Doe" off LI is still one of my favorite beats. Back when paranoia, anger, racism, rage, happiness, sadness and everything in between were expressed in a real as fuck manner, ya, that was the shit. Home Invasion by the O.G is ranked mad high too for me. I love Cube's early shit, I posted "when will They Shoot" in a thread the other day. "Don't Die" is my favorite track on Mike's new record and that's cause it reminds me of being 10 years old and listening to that shit thinking "holy fuck". But I'm gonna be honest, when the East Coast sound started hitting it's peak, I never turned back. I'll take LPF sampled bass licks over a live 5 string anyday you know what I mean?
Mistah Fab though!? na bruh, that whole style is wack.
