some tracks chuck's done have been pretty good - really liked some tracks on sonic the hamilton - but he puts out way too much music, so it turns out to be pretty hit or miss, imo.

88 kind of off topic but may I ask what you have been listening 2 as of late?

OT: I think a lot of people got turned off with that whole Dilla fiasco. He spits hard on freestyles and that srs jones battle was brave. I give him props and while the law of diminishing returns may be the nail in his coffin I think his best music is still ahead of him.

lately? lots of stuff. not too much hip hop, honestly, other than the typical realeases that everyone's been talking about (ie large pro, oddisee, meyhem lauren, oh no, dopplegangaz, etc.). been in to a lot of different music for the past while.

recent hip hop purchases:

oddisee - people hear what they see
large pro - professa at large
del the funkee homosapien & parallel thought - attractive sin
oh no - ohnomite
j dilla - rebirth of detroit
dopplegangaz - beats for brothels vol II
ab-soul - control system
jay electronica - what the fuck is a jay electronica?

that last purchase was pretty crazy. didn't know physical copies of that were out, and then just saw it in the store the other day and nabbed it.

anyway, i think it's weird how charles got so much trouble for that j dilla thing, but whatever; that's just me. there was a lot of things that brought him down, though: the j dilla thing, the extremely excessive amount of releases, the video where he gets knocked out by that chick, those rumors (or true facts? *shrugs*) that he went insane and went to an insane asylum, etc.

That OddIsee is bananas. Honestly. I really enjoy Control System as well. Jay Elec is so ill. Late pass on his catalogue. Dont know where I was this whole time. I really need to peep that Del release. Thank you.

I listen to most genres so if you could bless me with anything outside of our fav genre that would be appreciated.

Ya I hear you. That video of him getting knocked was my first impression. I mean all the xtra ish aside though at the end of the day he has talent. On the boards and the mic. I hope he puts it all together. Mental illness is something I dont wish on anyone.

oh, a couple other albums i've been in to lately are sene's brooklyknight and children of the night's queens revisited. sene doesn't get the love he deserves. sure, everyone knows him, because he's worked with blu, but he's a really good rapper, and hasn't had a bad release yet, imo. really really like that children of the night release, though. specifically the track, women.

I heard a couple of tracks off that Children Of The Night. What I heard was dope. Ill look that up as well.

I have zero knowledge on Sene but I am always looking for some new new. Not really a huge Blu fan. I like more of the experminetal NoYork blu than Below The Heavens Blu personally. I guess that is blasphemous on these boards. Thanks for your time.

haha, recent non-hip hop releases is too vast to list. i'll try, though.

guelewar - touki ba banjul: acid trip from ban jul to dakar
serge gainsbourg - histoire de melody nelson
francoise hardy - vogue years
van morrison - astral weeks
paul mccartney - ram
the o'jays - ships ahoy
ravi shankar - india's master musician
chet baker - chet baker sings
norah jones - little broken hearts
os mutantes (one of my all time favourite groups) - everything is possible!
wilson picket - the exciting wilson picket

could go on forever; i spend way too much money on music on a monthly basis, but whatever.

here's a few highlights:

^^^just kind of bought this album on a whim. very funky african music, though

^^^love love loooooove this track. it's on wes andersen's new movie, moonrise kingdom, which is also great

^^^like i said, one of my favourite groups ever. their influence goes criminally unrecognised by so many. such unique music that so many have tried to recreate

^^^song is beyond good. just beautiful

^^^whether they know it or not, everybody knows this song, thanks to its hook. great album from the legendary wilson

my taste in music's all over the place, so i doubt many people on here would enjoy some of this stuff, but it was asked, so here it is.
