posted Saturday, July 07, 2012 8:21:07 PM Other than Streets Disciple and Nastraudamus and the untitled album i PERSONALLY never had a problem with his beat selection on albums cus he's a dope enough rapper..but again dats just me. If it was Riff Raff on Nas beats that would be a different story

posted Saturday, July 07, 2012 8:28:00 PM The damian marley album was dope in my opinion. And im saying i dont think the beats Nas gets on are THAT horrible...if they are decent beats I could listen to the song if the rapper is as dope as Nas. Untitled tho was an example of horrible production...but it was the most lyrical Nas has gotten in a while...but wack production i admit.

posted Saturday, July 07, 2012 9:11:58 PM Nah it hasn't leaked yet but my hopes aren't high based off the samples. And yea can't judge an album off samples but the beats aren't going to change and a lot of them are wack, especially that Swizz Beatz bullshit. That track sounds like Swizz was going for that Ruff Ryders circa 2000 feel to it. I'll definitely peep it though cause its Nas.

posted Sunday, July 08, 2012 12:23:05 PM expectations are too high coz its nas when really most albums you lot rate have way worse snooze beats on them.. and nas has a better voice, delivery and presence than most of them too.

A lot of people definitely hype up every Nas release (some people are still expecting a Nas album better than Illmatic) but I don't...Until it's in my hand and I've given it a proper listen, I can't rate it...

posted Sunday, July 08, 2012 4:36:42 PM Heeey Wicked, I'm surprised a bit - his beat selection sounded kinda alright this time! Throughout his career I've been on "Nas picks shitty beats", no doubt - on most cases I was let down and shit. That Marley album I didn't like at all etc Truth be told - years later most of his albums sound better. BUT this time snippets sound pretty even - of course few times a snippet ends before the beat even kicks in, so who knows, but it feels better than before! I'm not even disappointed, ha-haa

posted Sunday, July 08, 2012 4:53:02 PM Nas makes me mad. Every album he has done, has like 3 or 4 really hot tracks, and the rest are shitty. To me, at least. He is an incredible MC and writer, but the beats he uses, to me, suck. Like when i heard God's Son, i was expecting all the tracks to sound like Made You Look and then aside from Get Down, i didnt like any of the other songs. I did like Street Disciple (Thief's Theme is classic and call me a fag, but these are the types of beats i like...) some of the other albums were saved by the one or two DJ premier tracks on them. again, they had 3 or 4 hot tracks and then that was it. he can drop another illmatic! I agree with Wicked on something for a change! Why can't this fucking Nas make a full album, for the "trapped in the 90's n*ggas" and old faggot white guys like me, who hate today's sound and want to hear nothing but rap that sounds like it came from our teenage years!

posted Sunday, July 08, 2012 6:15:41 PM Nas' production for the most part is good enough...Not necessarily the greatest beats but not the worst either...The issue of Nas' production is a point brought up by both traditionalists and commercial types...The former want Nas to get Premo, Large Pro, Pete Rock and basically recreate Illmatic or make something better...The latter want more club friendly sounds...Personally, I would love to hear that mythical Nas/Premo album but I've accepted sometime ago that it will not happen...

No i see where ur coming from but I'm PERSONALLY ok with decent beats and a rapper with dope flow/lyrics/style.....the instrumentals don't need to be amazing I'm just a fan of great lyricists...I even make attempts at rapping here and there but unlike many people on these boards i ADMIT that i'm wack lol

posted Monday, July 09, 2012 9:39:25 AM Nastradamus was his weakest album...yet there are songs on there (e.g. "Come Get Me") that are better than most rappers' best song.
Street's Disciple had more than just one or two good songs....Nazareth Savage, Just A Moment, etc.

I know most won't consider this worth anything but find me another hip-hop album that isn't great that has 5/5 average on Amazon after 100+ reviews
