listening to these albums recently is kinda interesting....i thought they were awful when they dropped....but as time has gone on, and hip-hop has gone in a different direction, they actually seem pretty nice now. not amazing or anything close to mid 90's wu albums, but better than most shit coming out these days.
digital bullet is just weird....pretty far out there even for rza in this time period. the tracks are kinda all over the place and a lot of the beats are pretty experimental...but when the album works (can't loose, brooklyn babies, do u, throw your flag up, be a man, sickness), it's pretty fuckin genius.
the movement i could almost say the exact same things about....it's just completely all over the place, like deck didn't know if he wanted to go for straight wu bangers or more mainstream stuff. deck's lyricism is definitely toned down, but some of the tracks are just dope as hell (city high, the movement, framed, vendetta, that n*gga)....too bad the corny attempts at mainstream bring the entire thing to a screeching halt.
these two records were horrible for wu standards, pretty good for the era they came out in, and absolute classics for today's era. haha.

There are a few bangers on the movement can't even remember most of it though

maybe classics is a bit strong....but nah, these would be up for album of the year released today.

posted Monday, July 09, 2012 10:52:03 PM I actually didn't think Digital Bullet was that wack. Don't get me wrong it had some mega wack songs but also had some fuckin bangers like Brooklyn Babies and Sickness. I was a fan of Bobby Digital In Stereo too. I feel the same way above The Movement as Digital Bullet. You want a wack ass Rza album then peep Digi Snacks. Unlistenable trash.
I see what Weatherman is saying though. Maybe for Wu solo album standards these albums are mediocre but overall they're not that bad. And compared to todays bullshit they'd be up there with the other dope shit released. More evidence that shows the downward spiral hip hop has taken over the last 10 years.

they just go back and pick trash albums and then hype them up figuring people will have forgotten how terrible they really are.

posted Tuesday, July 10, 2012 10:43:38 AM now let's be honest here....i don't think either of these albums are really classic or even close....that was more of a dig for today's hip-hop.
i'm not a wu apologist either....i'm probably one of their biggest fans here, but even i can admit when they make crap (most of these 2 albums are crap, ftr, and i've thought that since i first heard them like i pointed out)....it's just that i noticed recently that they at least have some good songs on them to make them listenable....i mean shit, you're lucky to get albums today with 5 good songs on them. and when an album today does have 5 dope songs, it's considered "good" by most people here.
there's a ton of terrible wu/wu fam albums....i won't deny that....i was just saying in the context of today they don't sound nearly as bad. that's all.

posted Tuesday, July 10, 2012 11:21:30 AM there are already 5-10 albums out this year that are better than either of these albums. there are more than that from last year that are better than either of these albums.

posted Wednesday, July 11, 2012 2:57:18 PM My thoughts on these two albums is zilch..I never think about them in any way other than maybe how they are good examples of how badly Wu fell off and how they take advantage of their fans who will support anything they put out no matter how bad it sucks. I don't know about you guys but that's called selling out to me. Shame because they both probably could have done a lot better at one point but I think they've all gone over the edge of no return when it comes to making good music again.
