Not sure if I'm gonna cop this. Too many guest appearances. Probably to fill in the gaps of unfinished tracks. Too bad Sean isn't alive to complete it

That track/video in OP is illy.

Yea abundance of guest spots probably cause of them only having one P verse per song. Bittersweet we get finally get Prodigy and P on a track, not including that one remix, and both are deceased. I wonder what the production line up is and if P actually recorded the verses over the beats on the album or if they were accapellas layered.

Really doesn't seem like many more features than his past material. It's all mostly his home team artists featured with a couple of other legendary rappers. This was an autocop for me. The 3 tracks I've heard are all dope.

You guys toss that word classic around too loosely. When has any post-mortem album ever been classic? Not saying it can't be, but I doubt it.

mic Tyson is probably one of the most underrated records of the last 8 years....album was just banger after banger and p was fantastic on it.

hopefully this is more in that vein...nice to see a 4th disciple beat on here. dude is one of my all-time favorite producers.

The WU cut is laughable and Nottz even tried to emulate RZA Rovl. DOOM rusty as fuck too...nice Frankensteinrelease. Dude sayin P! a 100 times sucks too. Maybe Illa Ghee got better shit.

Album is official. Production suits his voice and style well throughout. It has a similar feel to most of his previous solo albums. The features are his Ruck Down artists, Boot Camp, family and legends. Nothing sounds forced or unnatural. I love the short intros and skits, gives you a feel for the man and his sense of humor. Same vibe he gave off in person. Looking forward to the physical arriving.

Album release party/show at Brooklyn Bowl tonight.

after listening to the first half of the album, this seems like mic Tyson part 2 (which is a really good thing, imo). a couple tracks didn't work for me (definition of god, apartheid)...but everything else sounded pretty dope, especially ape in his apex, dead or alive, and negus....i'll listen to the back half later, but so far I was pretty impressed. some of the vocals seem a little off at times, but nothing too terrible. the upsetting part is that this is probably the last we're ever going to hear of p.

From my understanding, some of the project he was working on with Lil Fame was completed. I think it was supposed to be called The Price of Fame or something like that. You might be right though. This album is fucking dope.

Most naturally sounding posthumously released hip hop album I've ever heard. Nothing seems forced or tacked on,don't know how much of it was completed before he died but I imagine this is pretty much how P would've wanted it to sound

Going through it now. Sounds like a legit release, which is a relief to say the least. A lot of dope material here, just a shame dudes voice went to shit near the end of his life. Whatever health issues he was dealing with it was definitely having negative effects on his breath control and voice. Sucks considering dude had one of the illest voices in Hip Hop.

Good not great album one time through. Definitely sounds like a natural release. I'm curious as to which tracks P actually recorded, especially the ones with guest spots, and which were his vocals layered over a different beat. The one with Wu for example at the end of P's verse he gives a shout out to Wu which gave me the vibe it was a track they all did together.

As far as the album goes, first 9 tracks were all legit. I know most heads aren't fucking with that Fraud beat but i dig it. Tracks 11 through 16 were inconsistent. Dope beats but wack hook, weaker beat but dope bars, etc. The one with Wu and Resident Evil were the only two that were on the level as the first 9 for me. Ill admit the second half of the album i bumped while in traffic and tired after work so that might've impacted my judgement on those tracks. Going to have this album in steady rotation for the duration of this week and see if my views on it change at all.

Yea his voice was much rougher at the end of his career. I forget which release but one of his last recorded verses was on a producer comp (maybe Psycho Les one) and he sounded like shit on it.

Yea NWS Songs In The Key was a disappointment. This is much better even just through one listen.

for sure. I think it especially comes through on 'dead or alive' verse 2 when he sounds like a completely different person.

with that said though, I think this album is as much as we could have hoped for on a posthumous p release.

It sounds authentic but i'm only feeling 9 or 10 of the 14 full tracks. the two last songs arnt listenable to me cause they have those super played out music samples which is a shame. his wife could have maybe held back from being on 2 songs or any for that matter. its a bit cheesy and she dosnt sound great.

other issues:

-track with freeway-the chorus is annoying and why freeway? i can do without him.

-"lord have mercy" singing chorus is annoying especially when they slow it down at the end and beat is just o.k.

-3 lyrical p's beat is weak no matter how you spin it. too sparse with just 1 weak synth and a cheap progression. whyd it make the album?

-refrigerator P beat gets repetitive and is even a bit boring

-church bells beat is just o.k.

overall the production could have been more quality and those weak beats (3 lyrical p's, rap professor, price family)should not have made it near the album.

first 7 songs and then "clicks and clans" hold down the album. that clicks and clans tracks is so dope.

overall a dope album but not without its issues. could have been really bad but we got a solid album.

and P is the illest thing about the album. he holds it down on every track.

Title track and prisoners are the only beats i fuck with. Everything else seems bland and boring.

9th and khrysis wouldve been nice. Or alchemist. But of course not. Lets give this legend's last verses to crummie fucking beats.

^Co-sign them dropping the ball a little bit going with a lesser known producer. You gotta figure they could've reached out to top shelf producers to lend a beat the project and the producers would've obliged for free with the rep P had.

I've always disliked Rap Professor since it dropped. Hearing it in the sequencing of the album it didn't change my mind.

Imperius Rex, Dead or Alive, Negus, Church Bells, and Clans and Cliks are my 5 favorite tracks one time through.

I agree about 9th and Khrysis. Especially since they were on so many of his classic solo songs and did almost all of Jesus Price.

Alchemist did the title track on Imperius Rex, but I believe it was recorded right after Mic Tyson came out, so it's one of the older joints on here.
