Yeah, he's pretty great sometimes. The whole Zaul Zan Scribble Jam battle was pretty cool. My first album from him was Still Sick... Urine Trouble which I think is the best of his Still Sick series. I think Personal Journals might still be his best album, some of his later shit started sounding like country music, although I like that song about the trucker on the run. He has a complex way with words and usually good beats. A more straight hip hop tribute album of his is called Non-Prophets "Hope", which is also good in a different way, though not as personal. I'd check out Urine Trouble and Hope if you can find them. Oh, there's also Copper Gone, but I'm not sure it's better than the older albums.

Non prophets were my shit growing up. The producer, Joey Beats, is one of the best producers ever to come from my state. But sage turned into a vegan and i cant stand his music anymore (i think..,i dont actuslly know what it sounds like)

Dude was actually one of my favorites for a while. Not like FOAT kinda of favorite, but back in the day I always checked and enjoyed pretty much everything he did. 'Personal Journals' and 'A Healthy Distrust' are such a great one-two punch. Easily my favorite projects from him. I was sold the second I heard him spit

I got more back issues than Guns & Ammo/
Cuz my uzi weighs a ton And I never let go of the handle

I never checked his Sick series since I thought it would be like Atmospheres early Bad Dubb series and sound like shit. Are those actually worth tracking down?

i used to listen to sage all the time in high school but haven't as much recently, still a fan of his music though

personal journals, a healthy distrust, human the death dance, hope, and the sick of waiting mixtapes are all great.

i didn't really care for li(f)e that much but the album after that, copper gone, was really good and one of my favorite albums from 2014. i think i'm gonna go back and revisit his discography sometime in the near future.

A Healthy Distrust is a great album. I really dig the beats on that one. I haven't really felt what he's been putting out post Human the Death Dance though.

This is the first thread I've ever seen where everyone doesn't just shit on Sage Francis haha. Refreshing to see.

I only have Personal Journals and Hope. Personal Journals is solid, didn't care for Hope too much but it had a couple decent songs. His music is a bit too avant garde for my taste but I respect the originality. He also is one of the best freestylers I've ever heard.

cosign aeokq. this woulda been a shit fest prolly a yr ago and every yr prior to that. good stuff guys. if nerd rap exists, sage would surely fall under the category but dude earned his stripes just like most of the stuff in that category. its not nerd rap, its just white guys not being afraid of being fucking white guys. im glad this shit exists. the blaccent is needed sometimes in rap to put certain emphasis on words wen rhyming but wen u take that blaccent to ur daily life like eminem does. flat out shameful and that shit needs to get called out.

I love watching Sage's old battles. That dude always had those one or two lines that were absolute haymakers. I remember his battle with Esoteric and he hit him with some shit like

"you don't wanna bite me I cause cancer in your jaw".

I might have to go through some of his shit this week.
