I would have to say repeating the same line twice for emphasis is one that drives me crazy. An example would be Conway saying I had a(migo) w(rapping) before offset. Usually itís something related to slinging and they act like people donít catch it the first time they say it. In my opinion usually these lines, while clever, are pretty obvious.

Lol yeah most of those drive me crazy too. Especially the childhood photo album covers.

I would say another one would be Hypermasculine aggressivity tinged with homoerotic lyrics. Of course there's the Biggie suck on your daddy's dick line and then B-Real constantly saying some shit about dude's sucking his dick, gobbling up his nuts etc. Like wtf.

Homophobe! There's nothing gross about a man orally stimulating another man's penis. It's love. It's passion. It's beautiful. You need to wake up and smell the 21st century!

Loewi, no doubt I understand the economic factor of it, but as someone with damn near 2500 hip hop CD's I've been collecting for like 2 decades it's hard now to break down and buy digital releases because I want the tangible artwork, liner notes, CD for backup in case my HD crashes or something.

SC1989,

Yeah I heard that's where it came from before.

Porkelin,

Lol I don't care if someone is gay. I just think it's kinda odd for these rappers who degrade homosexuals to then say homoerotic shit.

Which leads me to another one mostly perpetrated by 90's rappers. Dissing the new generation for skinny jeans, dyed hair, bright colors, etc. when the musicians they draw inspiration from and sample wore plenty of crazy shit like Parliament, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc.

Don't like Rappers that follow you on Twitter & unfollow once you follow them, scummy imo. So I don't follow anyone besides rappers I've heard of.
Also when rappers say they listened to your track, but really didn't & just want you to view their track. Someone sent a submission to my Soundcloud page saying they like my SC & wanted me to repost their album, but I looked in my stats (I got pro) & he didn't play one song.. Lmao

Newfoundhip-hop,

Yeah that type of shit is foul. I used to live in West Virginia and a rapper from where I live now named Zero Star contacted me through Blueprint's old message board on Weightless.net and asked me to get him some shows in that market and he would give me some free merch. I obliged, not even for the merch just to be nice and because I'm a fan of Blueprint, Illogic, and this guy Zero Star. So I got him connected with shows in two different cities Morgantown and Charleston. After that never heard from him again and of course never got any merch from him lol.

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that man, I heard stuff like that goes on a lot, I was talking to a rap group (bought a rare album off them) over Facebook, paid them $15, that was 2 months ago, still not here, I've ordered other albums from the States after I ordered the album from them & they got here long ago, the group are only in Toronto a few provinces over.
They asked me about shows here to, similar to your situation, said they could get another famous group with them. I didn't get the album so makes me wonder..
Also a rapper I know here paid big money for Cappadonna to come down to perform but it was a no show, Don't know if he paid the wrong people or what.

Newfoundhip-hop,

Damn man I feel you on the buying directly from the artist and shit taking forever. I had the same issue with K-Murdock from Panacea. I ordered some of the Panacea special edition albums Ink Is My Drink and The Scenic Route had some bonus cuts on them. It took him like 2 months to get me that shit. Thankfully it did come.

Also when a famous rapper steals your buddies song, changes it a little & re-releases it. Or when your group of friends that rap have a handsign, pay a famous rapper for a feature & he steals they're handsign and uses it for his whole "Club" that gets huge, little does his "club" know that the handsign they rep is actually from my pals

Lil wayne has ruined some perfectly good songs with references to shit. For example, "havent met a smell thats stinkier than our shit" is an actual line from one of his songs, amongst dozens of other shit references throughout his career.

Bringing live instrumentation and rnb singers into the mix. Occasionally a sung hook will make a song great but more often than not these attempts to "legitimize" hip hop by adding a real musician--ie someone who can actually play an instrument or sing--just cheapens the hip hop song where a scratched chorus or simple beat wouldve been better.

Another thing i hate is when rappers make songs in which they tell you what they're gonna do to their lady friend by addressing the listener as if he/she were that lady friend. LL did plenty of this and nothing is more uncomortable for me than having a rapper seduce me through recorded song...keep your love letters private

I hate when female emcees try to reverse gender roles and talk about their pussy like it's a dick. "Suck my dick" is a way more casual insult than "eat my puss-y" ; that shit is way more graphic

I hate when rappers finally get on a smoothe beat (my favorite) and instantly make the song sexual or emotional. Hard ass raps sound the best over smoothe ass songs, let those beats shine without conforming to its tone please

Also ANY form of beef that isnt an irl fight or a diss record. And if you do record a diss song, use an original goddamn beat. SO tired of rappers wasting verses on beats ive already heard/iconic beats. Who the hell wants to hear a mixtape rappers version of "quiet storm" when the original is perfect??
