A couple of people asked for some more Muggs compilations in the other thread, so here goes...

The first one is the Call O' Da Wild compilation. All tracks are from 96-98, all produced by Muggs unless otherwise stated.

There was a Call O' Da Wild album due out around '96, it was even advertised in a couple of Cypress Hill releases but then it got shelved by Sony.

This compilation has pretty much every track that they released (apart from the joints featuring Barron Ricks on Cypress Hill IV)...

01. Sometimes The Neighbourhood (Prod. Sean Matthews & Jerome Foster)
02. Clouds Of Smoke (Prod. Muggs, Sean C & Knobody)
03. Ruff Terrain
04. Intellectual Dons feat. B-Real
05. Andrews Ave.
06. Urban Wilderness
07. New York Undercover
08. Runnin' Wild
09. Ninth Symphony feat. Cypress Hill
10. Rags To Riches feat. Cypress Hill & Chace Infinite
11. Harlem River Drive (Prod. The Alchemist)

Tracks 1 and 2 was their debut single. Track 2 was also featured on the Bad Boys soundtrack.

Tracks 3 and 4 was the second single. Track 4 was also featured on Cypress Hill's Unreleased & Revamped EP.

Tracks 5 and 6 were released by Muggs exclusively on his Soul Assassins website years ago.

Tracks 7 and 8 are from the Soul Assassins 1 album.

Track 9 is from the Gravesend soundtrack.

Tracks 10 and 11 are the solo single that Barron Ricks put out in 98.

Hahaa props Clock.

There's some fuckin ill shit in these compilations.

I said in the other thread that Muggs and RZA are top 2 producers ever for me... I'm starting to think Muggs might be no.1 and RZA no.2.

RZA's current shit is weak, he started experimenting and fell the fuck off.

Muggs experiments with different genres etc, but he still knows how to make a hard as fuck Hip-Hop album to cater for his original fans.

For any heads on Spotify, i made a Muggs playlist. So far about 75 Muggs produced bangers on there. I'm going to continue adding to it...

DJ Muggs Bangers Spotify Playlist

Only thing that sucks is a lot of tracks he's produced aren't on it. Also no Soul Assassins II or Grandmasters.

Clock, there's a wiki page for Muggs' productions but it doesn't seem to be very up to date...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Muggs_production_discography

So either that, or trawling through Discogs probably.

Yea i saw the wiki but unfortunately it doesn't do as good of a track by track as say the Alchemist one does. On the Alchemist one they go year by year instead of artist by artist.

Must've missed it when skimming through the track listings. This is enough heat to last me the entire week. Good looks again.

Just checked on discogs, the Dana Barros track is a solo joint. It was on a vinyl single along with a track by Warren G and Cedric Ceballos.

It looked like it was listed as Warren G feat. Cedric Ceballos & Dana Barros, but itís two separate tracks. Youíll need to change the tagging on that track when you DL.

Pattch is the man.

Muggs is in my top 3 too. The man does exactly what he wants to do with all his projects. He's a master fucking producer. I just pray my man can one day drop a VS album that is better than a 3.5 or 4 out of 5.

I know he's got a MADVILLAIN in him, who's it gonna be with?

I think Muggs has already dropped a 5/5 Vs. albumÖ The Muggs Vs. Sick Jacken album is the perfect album imo. I am biased slightly though as Jacken is in my top 3 MCís. The beats are all top level, the whole album flows like one coherent piece from start to finish. Takes you in to a little conspiracy world. I love that they included a bibliography in the liner notes as well so people could go out and do more research on the conspiracies and theories that they were rapping about. Classic album!

Iíd love to see Muggs do a Vs. album with Method Man. I think Muggs could hook Meth up with those dark grimey Tical-style beats!

That Jacken album is damn close to perfection. Only thing that kills it for me is the Spanish stuff, and that's not hate, I just don't understand it and it limits the enjoyment I get from it.

I think a full blown Wu-Tang album produced by Muggs is the way to go from here on out. Wu would benefit immensely from his sound. There last few projects just haven't had the right production but Muggs has proven time and again that he's only getting better and more inventive the further he gets into his career. He could lace them with that dark, knocking, atmospheric production we all want from a Wu album while at the same time not sounding like a RZA clone.

Remember a few month before GZA VS Muggs he announced the Inspectah Deck VS Muggs record? Had a name and everything and Deck pulled out for some fucked up reason. That dude is allergic to dropping a good solo album.

GZA - 3.5/5
PA - 4/5
Ill Bill - 3/5 (what a let down, except the raised owl cover)
Jacken - 3.5/5
Meyhem - 4/5 (giving this one an extra half point cause of Shae Stadium alone)

Yeah Muggs was supposed to do the first Vs. album with Deck, but he said their schedules just didnít link up and it didnít happen. Thatís when he hooked up with GZA instead. Apparently a lot of the beats that were originally meant for the Deck album ended up on the GZA, Jacken and Asia albums.

I interviewed Muggs a few years back and discussed all of his Vs. albums. Dude is cool as hell!
