Lmao I introduced this album to my hippie roommate who lived in the closet in our kitchen 2005. He listened to this album on repeat while he slept lmao. Love that guy.

It's a solid album for sure but it didn't make the cut of my Top 5 from '95.

if people cant appreciate his energy and flow and stylin on the debut then you missed the whole plot of emceeing! hes not lyrical but he killed that album with one of the most unique and creative emcee performances on an album ever! many styles plus that soul and intensity plus that unpredictability!

people write him off but dont even get how great he is on the debut

no dull moment!

The production on here was better than ob4cl.

Probably blasphemy but whatever. Itís not a better overall album but RZA was in top form here. Snakes is just nuts.

I never was much of a fan of ol dirty

I was a big wutang fan but he always seemed like a corny gimmick to me

he had a few cool tracks but his rhymes were always gay it was just the party vibe of the songs that were cool

I actually love n*gga please too, its a personal classic.

Highlight of return is without a doubt the finest lyrical display ever recorded....

"Bad, bad, Leroy Brown
Baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than the deep blue seaaaaa
Badder than you and meeeeee
n*ggaz comin through the trees, like a salamander, bitin
Like a piranha, but I'm bitin you back, like a black pantha
The style I'm ampin the... fuck my name, who I be?
Fuck the game, it's all about the moneyyyy!
Owahhaerahh, sometimes I get high with the Meth
Then I turn to the Killah Priest
When it comes TWELVE O'CLOCK!!
I turn into the demon beast, yo"

I revisited this album this week.
Shimmy Shimmy Ya through to Raw Hide are 5 magnificent back to back tracks. I then find myself skipping through to Snakes and that's about it.
6 highlights right there.
As I mentioned in the voting thread, Drunk Game (Sweet Sugar Pie) is awful, in my opinion. I see one or two posters above agree with me...

yeah i could definitely do without drunk game but other than that i don't really have any complaints about this album. idk about the captain beefheart of rap but i also can't think of any album predating this that fits the description better.

rawhide and snakes are crazy. damage with gza is another personal favorite, i love the back and forth on that track

its a top five album of the year

the beats are amazing
so many dope guest emcee verses
ol dirty rips it

maybe most original and unique album of the year

so felipe do you not listen to any intense loud emcees?

dont have to be lyrical to be great and nobody did it like him

i feel like your missing the plot

top twenty? LOL

i luv loud mcs, but ones ACTUALLY MCEEING, not making all sords of weird noises

yall know i love some onyx redman, nine busta freddie foxxx M.O.P, even most of Em

but odb screams while so called singing at the same time and does all kinds of crazy shit iīm not a fan of...yes he can be a brutal mc when he wants too but sometimes he pushes his crazyne beyond my limits

Snakes is one of my favorite tracks ever, the beat is retarded and all the MCs murder it. Shimmy Shimmy Ya is a classic. Great album. I haven't listened in a very long time, I'll have to dust it off. I seem to remember there being a couple tracks I don't care for, no more than 3, that's the only fault I can think of. Couldn't tell you which ones.
