Probably his best track ever. He's fallen off soooooo hard since 2000.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 5:11:49 PM My favorite tracks of his too. Premier (right?) laced him with that one. But it's a pretty ironic song/thread title. Edo G. is one of the most boring emcees.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 7:01:30 PM jacked, i cant disagree with you in recent years. but he didnt used to be boring when he was putting out shit with the bulldogs and his early stuff up until the early/mid 2000s was still solid as well.
recently i still cop cuz he's from a block down the street from where i grew up and he was one of the older cats in my neighborhood that was doin "big things" as we used to say.
i'll always have a fondness for edo just for nostalgia's sake but i can't deny his last couple albums havent been great.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 7:54:11 PM Vinyl, being from Evansville you probably aren't qualified to be commenting on Edo G's boringness. Not to mention that you don't even seem to be very familiar with his discography.
Orien, I never listened to Edo G back in the day, so maybe he was a better lyricists at one time. There are lots of Vancouver emcees I used to like when I was younger that I just can't get into anymore. I think we all overrate emcees from our home towns, especially if we aren't from New York/Cali/Chicago/Detroit/New Orleans/Atlanta/Houston.
Most Boston/Phili/Pittsburgh/Minneapolis/St Louis/North Carolina/Florida/Toronto/Vancouver/England/Australia/etc hip hop is highly overrated IMO.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 8:50:53 PM Yeah ok Jacked you know me personally so you know everything about me,right?
I can't comment on EDO G.?
I bought the 12" vinyl of "I Got To Have It" the week it dropped back in 1991.
His 2nd album was somewhat slept on back in the day besides the classic "Be A Father To Your Child".
Trust me,you can't tell me shit about the history of hip-hop.
Also,i'm 99.9% sure i'm older than you.
Shit,i was probably buying records before you were born.
But whatever..
Please don't make stupid statements about me when you don't know me,ok.
Also,i have no problem with your comment,i just don't agree with it.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 9:00:05 PM Also, don't feed me crap about where i'm from.
I live in a city 0f 300,000 that has a lot to offer with sports, shopping, and lot's of used and new music stores.
It's not like i live in the boondocks in a farm house. There's nothing in hip-hop that hasn't been sold here since i was buying records in 88' (and long before that)
I've kept on just about everything since 86-87,except i have missed on some music the last few years, just because i think there's really not a lot of great hip-hop being made, outside of some singles.
Individual songs,yes,full length cd's,no..
I was buying NYC mixtapes as early as 1991.
I was also buying Stretch & Bobbito (amongst others) tapes as early as 92'.
Long before the internet was around.
Believe me,you can't tell me nothing as far as hip-hop.
Peace!

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 9:06:38 PM Whoever said you cant comment? I'm just questioning your taste. Post whatever you like. I usually just scroll past. But if you quote me and then say "This place gets worst by the week.." don't start getting all emotional with me. Save it for your diary.
Anyway, post up a great Edo G verse or GTFO.

his first two albums are considered classics as far as alot of people are concerned. I Got To Have It was one of the biggest rap singles in '91.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 10:04:31 PM I never claimed to be an expert on Edo G, and I never claimed I've never listened to old Edo G. I've heard Life of a Kid, just not back when I was 12 years old. Too busy listening to Young MC and MC Hammer.
All I said was that I find him to be very boring.
If Vinyl or anyone else wants to get worked up about that they can go ahead. I was just pointing out that Vinyl seems to be getting pretty emotional about an emcee who he thinks maybe he can recall having a few nice tracks on the album that was posted.

posted Monday, June 04, 2012 10:28:03 PM i dont know, i always liked him. i'm a fan of that straight forward flow, if done right. i didnt think The Truth Hurts was that great of an album either, but i slept on that album when it came out. didnt even know about it 'till 4 years later after i heard My Own Worst Enemy, wich i thought was really dope.
