Yes, however the obscure (and not commonly used in texas negro dialect) use of metaphoric limerick "choosing shoes....et al" can also suggest a less braggadocio tone. One must not overlook the possibility that she was "chosen" by a man, and only a man has this ability to "choose" as they are gifted by able to wear the"choosing shoes"
In this case, I believe Karen may have been "chosen" and lead to believe she was "chosen" to stay for a longer term, however, was discarded by said man who when his "choosin shoes" decide to choose another female.
To me this is the screaming of an unempowered black woman rendered passive by choosing shoes.

yes i agree with you that its the men only who are the wearers of the choosing shoes. and the women are the ones being chosen with said shoes. i guess my point was that when choosing season arrives and the choosing shoes have been donned, karen is making it clear to the women that all bets are off when it comes being faithful in relationships. that there are no guarantees of fidelity throughout the course of choosing season.
