posted Thursday, July 05, 2012 3:20:19 AM Lately, I been consumed and addicted to the freestyle part of this Artform, its the only aspect or element of HipHop I think remains unadulterated these days. Everything else is mordernised and has been influenced by technology, except for maybe the graphing, (my thoughts).
I freestyle in English but due to the language barrier since it aint my primary language, i always find myself not quite flowing smoothly as I would, you know trying to get that 'off-the-head-verse- so- clean you' think its written type of result. But the key I believe is practice.
The other problem is i try to stay off the basic rhyme structure , may be do some freestyle with double rhymes (Am a big fan of JUICE so he has influenced me alot)or even reverse rhyme structure.
Thing about freestyling is it dont matter whether its dope by the criria writens are oftenly judged by, all that matters is if it rhymes and if its off the top.
I like frestyling aslo coz I think its aslo oe of thos aspects of HipHop music that you can do anytime anywhere by yourself and feel good about it. Coz it makes you feel satisfied when you set the limits and push yourselvef to achieve them. It aslo encourages alot of reading, tryng to expand your vocabulary so your spectrum of rhymes widens. The mor you read, the more you vocabulary expands, and the rhyming words at your disposal hnce the more your frestyle would sound dope.
I also freestyle in Swahili,but i find it no challenge as in it comes of easy like the cat above says "child play".
